Spotlight: PROPS
Other Characters from the Sneezy Stage
It’s not a Sneezy show without our technicolor parade of puppets and stuffed animals adorning the stage. It started with one stuffed snake, an impulse purchase for comfort during a particularly chaotic tour. This silly stuffed serpent from a gas station evolved into a cartload of goofiness. Our inner children have been spoiled with gifts from fans and venues. Our props are so beloved that a few have become full-blown characters. Allow me to introduce you to the band members who are by far the easiest to work with…
Shribley Pebbles aka the tour manager
Origin: Wegman’s grocery store, purchased and named by Boogie Nation
Usual spot: Front of stage or held above a band member’s head during “Feed the Funk”
Special Skill: Immortal. When the Sneezy frenzy rips his body apart, a new cardboard pony appears in its place. This empty pinata still brings the party. I wish it was symbolic that we don’t keep any candy or prizes inside Shribley, but he’s just lighter and easier to transport.
Eric Showbin
Origin: Mysterious Jack acquisition. His name comes from Jack’s desire to keep everyone organized with a “show bin,” a neat plastic tub to keep all of their show items. At this time, I think three band members complied.
Usual spot: Hanging on the keyboard station. In Florida, he cuddled up with Sugarshack’s Gnomeo, sparking some unconfirmed prop romance rumors.
Special Skill: Independence. The puppet who will not be puppet-ed. In the past year, I’ve seen him change outfits and move around the stage, but always on his own terms. Occasionally he gets thrown during a solo, but it’s voluntary like crowd surfing.
Larry aka the Muppet
Origin: Dunbar, West Virginia at The Shop. He was a dive bar decoration until gifted to Sneezy, stealing his name from Larry who works at the venue.
Usual Spot: Draped near Eric Showbin or hiding near the drums
Special Skill: Headbanging. Larry tends to come alive during Austin’s guitar solos, either imitating him or smooching him or both.
In Memoriam: the Narwal
This Narwal head was a gift from our superfan Alex Huey. It was a little bit broken when we received it, but due to Sneezy hijinks it is now a lotta bit broken. Our nautical unicorn friend has been retired to the garage for the foreseeable future, but we appreciate how much whimsy he brought in his short time on tour. Whether hiding Danny or fighting the funk monster or just sporting a cool pair of shades, the Narwal knew how to boogie.
Everyone who contributes a prop to the Sneezy stage lives on in our caravan. Same goes for the 200+ people who have contributed to our gofundme— you’re in the van now. We won’t make you ride in trailer with Shribley Pebbles. Thank you for helping to fill up our piñata, symbolically. Sneezy only stays on tour because you believe in our spectacle. 7 days left to raise 40k. Donate or tell a friend today <3
