Spotlight: Brian Good
Getting to know Sneezy's manager
What’s official title with Sneezy?
Manager, therapist, problem solver, networking guru, Band cheerleader….
also Nerf Gun war instigator. AKA: Band Dad
Where are you based, and how long have you been working with the band?
I live in Asheville NC. Been working with Sneezy about 4 years. Once you get on the bus, one loses track of time, in the best way possible.
Give us your origin story. How did you first get involved with Sneezy?
A dear friend of mine called me when I was at a Primus show and said friends were coming into town looking for a place to play in Asheville. I was called because I owned a music venue. I didn’t have a stage for them with short notice, but we all met up for brunch the next day. Jen and I went to our first Sneezy show that evening. As you know, see Sneezy once and you are hooked. I have been one of their biggest fans since then and now happy to call them family.
If you had to describe this band to someone’s grandma, what would you say?
Hold on to your seat! This is a Funky Deliciousness Salad of music.
“This isn’t a stage, its a livin’ room.”
What would you be doing if you’d never gotten into the music industry?
I enjoying multiple projects and tasks so a General Contractor maybe. I went to culinary school in college but would not go back to restaurants. My dream retirement job is owning a catamaran and taking people on tours throughout the islands.
Walk us through what “managing Sneezy” actually looks like on a random Tuesday.
My days are answering emails, talking with agents, emails, marketing calls, emails, reviewing offers, helping when “Bad Girl” breaks down on the road and emails. My favorite job is hosting the band when they are in town, laughing and eating dinner together!
What’s the hardest part of your job that has nothing to do with music?
Trusting the process. It’s not just business with Sneezy. It’s a lifestyle. Remembering that decisions are multi level and we are a family first and foremost.
What does this band do that makes your job genuinely fun — not just professionally rewarding, but actually fun?
This one time they showed up at our house with the van door open singing “Brian Good and Jen,” an original song about Jen and myself. The best part is just being part of the silliness. Connecting with everyone individually. Running errands with Jack is nice because we usually find a sandwich.
What’s a decision you’ve had to fight for on behalf of Sneezy that you’re proud of?
Beside fighting for food at dinner time? Telling Brett not to wear sweatpants on my stage ever again was huge. Now I take fashion advice from him.
Finish this sentence: “Sneezy is worth fighting for because ___.”
Sneezy is all of us! We are all Sneezy! Achoo!!!
Thanks for everything you do, Brian! As band dad, you make Sneezy feel like a real family. All it took to adopt us was one show. Brian saw one set and never left, and everyone who boogies with us knows that Sneezy effect. Help us keep getting Brians to their first show. Six days left in our gofundme. Tour is made possible by Boogies like you :)
