Spotlight: Austin Lutter
Q&A with Big Blazer on the Guitar
What’s your name, your instrument, and how long have you been with Sneezy?
Austin James Lutter - Electric Guitar, Background Vocals, Acting Tour Manager. Joined 2010ish so 16 years. How did you first end up in this band?
I recorded, mixed, and mastered all the original Sneezy Trio mix tapes / albums when the band was first formed as a trio, with my younger brother Colton on drums (djembe).Describe the Sneezy sound to someone who’s never heard us — but you can’t use the word “funky.”
Eclectic mix of high energy r&b, funk, soul, pop, and rock. Overall we have a positive, uplifting, sun-shiney feel. What song in the set do you look forward to playing the most, and why?
Fat Girlfriend (specifically the live Punk Rock section at the end) or
Sandwich (sweep picking in adbundance)What was your toughest gig with Sneezy?
My first gig returning after losing my dad to a stroke. My singing voice is similar in timbre to his so i could barely crack out my background vocals without tearing up thinking about him :(What was your favorite gig with Sneezy?
Jam Cruise in 2025. Hands down my biggest life changing experience (yet)Who is the artist who most inspired you to pursue music?
John Petrucci of Dream Theater is by far my biggest influenceWhat’s a skill, hobby, or obsession you have that has absolutely nothing to do with music?
I have an unhealthy addiction to MMORPGs. Better than alcohol or hard drugs, I guess!Who in the band would you call if you had a flat tire? Who would you call if you had an extra ticket to a show?
Jack for a flat tire, he’s got all the tools and is very reliable.
Brett is always a great hang at a show… Especially if he’s unfamiliar with the genre, it’s always cool to see a band through your friend’s eyes. The van is gone but Boogie Nation showed up. What does that mean to you?
We don’t need a vehicle, our fanbase will carry us through hard times if we allow them :)Austin has been with Sneezy since before there was a Sneezy. Sixteen years later, and he's still the first one to show up (he made the itinerary). People like Austin made tour possible, and so do you. Donate or share to be part of our tour life. Sixteen days left!
