It’s Your Birthday!
That’s What’s Up!
Sneezy’s manager Brian Good lightly hazes every new member of the band. The first time you stay with him in Asheville, there will inevitably be a family dinner at a Mexican restaurant. It is every first timer’s birthday.
Surprise! Doesn’t matter if you were actually born in the spring. You’re reborn in Sneezy today. The waitstaff not only sings to you, but surprise slings some whip cream in your mouth. A sweet embarrassment to welcome you into this funky family.
Today is my real birthday, according to Uncle Sam, God, and most importantly my mother. I feel like a kid bringing cupcakes to class— I couldn’t show up empty handed to Boogie Nation.
So, if you follow this link you can listen to a live recording of Sneezy’s new song “Birthday.”
Brett, Danny and I wrote the first version of this song at frisbee golf park in Nashville. We ran into a guy on a solo frisbee date celebrating his birthday. When we asked him about plans or gifts, he said: “I’m gonna give myself the best year of my life.”
This became the lyric of one of my new favorite songs. When I blow out candles today, I’m picturing the crowds dancing to this song. Too grateful for wishes. Thanks, Thomas! Your birthday made a lot of birthdays a little more groovy.
Five days left to celebrate Sneezy and band together for our new van. The best gift for me would be a contribution or share. Thanks for being apart of the best year of my life.
